Welcome to the split sculpture. Notice the metal tree in stark contrast to the greenery and nature that surrounds it. I feel these days we often forget as humans we are still a part of nature because we too have the ability to just be. We treat ourselves like artificial robots - forgetting to follow our natural rhythms until we become metal like this tree.

When I feel like metal I overthink and worry. When I’m like the tree I feel easy going and present. I feel okay with life as it is.

I want to share with you a practice that can help you return to that tree within. It’s somatic meditation. Somatic Meditation helps us to heal the nervous system so we can feel safe to reorient ourselves to the present moment - then we can just be. Overthinking , pain , anxiety and more are often symptoms of repressed emotions - that just need to be felt. So throughout this meditation emotions might arise - let it - this means you are releasing and returning to your true state. Let me show you how!

Find a comfortable place to sit or stand. Take a nice deep breath in - from the bottom of your feet , through your stomach and into your chest - and back out. Let’s do that 2 more times.

Now bring both your hands up to your chest, and place your fingers right under your collar bone. Right fingers are on your right side, left hand on the left. I want you to tap that area now with your fingers. And as you do, breathe deeply. Just let yourself feel. No judgement, no stopping, just feel.

Repeat after me “it is safe to feel”

Keep breathing deeply

Now bring your fingers up to your cheekbones - and tap there. Keep breathing deeply as you do. Repeat after me “sometimes i don’t know how to feel - but i still love and accept myself” breathe deeply

Now tap the top of your head. Breath deeply and repeat after me. “I accept the weight i’ve been carrying and i allow myself let it go”

Finally lets tap the collar bone area once more “it is safe to be in my body”

Continue to tap for as long as you like - feel free to tap whatever other parts of your body you like! Let your intuition guide you.

I’ve learned safety and security is not found through control - control is like metal. Safety is found through love and acceptance for who you are as you are with or without the answers. Just like a tree. Just be.
