Underwater 4-3, monotype, collagraph, collage, 21.5 x 31 in.

Jueun Shin

The motifs of Underwater prints series are the sea creatures from my memory. I capture parts of images in the memory and reinterpret them. I apply the characteristics of traditional Korean Paintings such as strength of stroke, white space, and the shading effect of ink on the prints. Another main component of print is layering. At first glance, my work seems like simple shapes, but a closer look reveals stories from combinations of layers.
