There is a clever demon. You know how demons like to do bad things. This one wants to do bad, too, and doesn't want to be punished. He acts like an angel. The gods are so pleased with him that they decide to make any one wish he has come true. He makes up a list of all the animals and people and weapons in the world. He says, "I wish that nothing on my list can harm me." Since they have promised, the gods have to make his wish come true. Now the demon laughs, "Nothing in the world can harm me." He orders people to worship him. The world becomes a mess, so Visnu has to do something. Visnu says, "Don't be afraid. I will help you." He checks the demon's list and finds that the demon has forgotten to write down the boar. So he changes into a boar. See Visnu change into a boar.

The frightened demon captures the earth goddess and hides under the sea. Visnu dives to the bottom of the sea, seeks out the demon and kills him with his tusks. He rescues the earth (the small goddess on his elbow). The figures surrounding Visnu are other gods celebrating his defeat over the demon.
