Remembering Akio Takamori

When Japanese-American artist Akio Takamori died in January 2017 after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer, the art world lost one of its more revolutionary ceramics artists and the students and faculty at the University of Washington lost a beloved teacher and colleague. From painted ceramic vessels to large installations of figurative work, Takamori’s renderings of everyday life capture the full spectrum of the human condition.
