Union Bay XOX, oil on panel, 30 x 30 in.
I’m drawn to complex natural settings with layers of plant life, just like we find all around us in the Pacific Northwest. The intersections of the branches and leaves make armatures for me to explore color and spatial relationships. I assume the role of gentle visual organizer, letting the natural elements speak for themselves on the panels. I’ll try several approaches within a painting, just as a scientist takes several cuts at the data to discover its richness over time.
