Perri Lynch Howard
My work is a charting or mapping of sites and situations expressed through painting,
drawing, sculpture, and sound. Subtle qualities of landscape are combined with
symbols, maps, and icons to convey the complexity of real-world experience, inviting
unique, yet shared, emotional responses.
From the genesis of the early artworks in painting and printmaking, my practice has
grown to incorporate sound, sculpture, and immersive environments.
The paintings and prints are multi-layered, committing real places, imaginary
landscapes, and Cartesian coordinates as one seamless whole. This is manifested in
my latest series of paintings, “Frequencies,” visualizing the passage of sound, light,
and current through the landscape.
