Oxalis Dark, mixed media monotype, 44 x 42 in.
Drawing is the foundation of both the oil on canvas paintings and the drawings. The drawings incorporate a printmaking technique, monotypes, produced on a Ray Trayle etching press with lithography inks. The work tends to run in series. For example, the Rose Theory group, combining abstracted chaos and realistic drawing, symbolically "planting roses" in the face of adversity. With close attention during the drawing process, the natural elements assume a character with a role to play in the composition.
